Leader Bomke

***Why, again, isn't State Senator Larry Bomke Republican leader of the IL Senate?  This is his letter from Sunday:  In June, I sent a letter to House Speaker Michael Madigan asking that he begin the process that could lead to the impeachment of Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

This was not an easy decision to make. Impeachment is one of the most serious actions a legislature can consider and it cannot be done simply because a governor is unpopular.
However, I feel that with examination of his record over the past six years, there is ample justification to take the first steps in this direction.

When Gov. Blagojevich initially took office, his promises of change created high hopes that he could provide the leadership needed to bring our state together. I have repeatedly attempted to work with the governor. Unfortunately, I have learned he cannot be trusted. Now, once again we are witnessing criminal trials that reach directly into the governor’s office.

I want you all to know that I take my position on this matter very seriously. If the House sends an impeachment resolution to the Senate, I will be prepared to act in the best interests of our state and the 50th District.

We cannot continue to burden our health-care providers by delaying payments for our Medicaid bills. Our schools must receive long-overdue funds that have been approved and promised. We must put an end to leadership objectives that drive businesses and jobs from our state. Statewide unemployment and Springfield’s jobless rates are increasing at an alarming rate. I voted against the budget, which contains a $2 billion deficit and no money for a capital program. I am committed to doing everything in my power to change the direction of our state and meet the needs of Illinois taxpayers.

Our current governor is oblivious to the wake-up calls, whether it involves callously uprooting and relocating employees or devastating the developmentally disabled and their families. A level of compassion, with promises kept, could go a long way. There is no school for governors, but it’s never too late to learn or develop a sense of decency.

Citizens of our state have experienced an unprecedented and malignant form of “change” under the programs of this administration. Enough is enough. We all know, it is time for “change” again. As your senator, I’m working to bring it.

***Illinois is racist.  Ask Sen. Rev. Meeks as he protests education funding by keeping students home and sending their protest to New Trier.  Remember, this is from a man who is a sitting state senator in a Democratically controlled Senate, which is part of a Democratically controlled legislature with a Democratically controlled Governor's Office from a Democratically controlled city.  If Illinois is 'racist' doesn't that mean that the Illinois Democratic party is racist?  Aren't the Democrats in charge of everthing and have been for a long, long time and they haven't moved a finger to assist with education funding reform?  If the Dems refuse to move the ball forward on education reform, Rev. Sen. Meeks should focus a mirror on his own party and not protest the school and parents of New Trier.

***Does it seem like the liberal media is using the Palin issue in order to NOT report on the big story of the weekend - the anarchists destroying much of the Twin Cities prior to the GOP convention?  Aside from the Gustav story, where the media was praying for death and destruction to blame on Bush, this is the big story from the weekend.  Yet, it is not reported or under-reported.

This from the 3aDhUec7PaP3E77K_0c:3aDhUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aULPQL7PQLanchO7DiU">Minneapolis Star-TribuneBefore most of the demonstrators had finished their march, a few hundred protesters splintered off and became confrontational and sometimes violent. Some smashed windows at Macy's and a downtown bank building. Others challenged police by blocking roads.

In other news that the major media is ignoring in favor of reporting live from a hurricane and a teen pregnancy, the US handed over Anbar to the Iraqis.  Does this mean were winning, yet, Senator Obama?

***David Brooks on the Palin pick:  When McCain met Sarah Palin last February, he was meeting the rarest of creatures, an American politician who sees the world as he does. Like McCain, Palin does not seem to have an explicit governing philosophy. Her background is socially conservative, but she has not pushed that as governor of Alaska. She seems to find it easier to work with liberal Democrats than the mandarins in her own party.

Isn't this what most Americans want?  Someone who wakes up and wants to work for them.  Someone who works with those of different stripes.  Someone who can have personal convictions but also understands the reality of governing.

This is actually going to be fun.

***Questions for The Obama which, more than likely, will not get answered.  IL politicians don't answer questions or deal with the public.  They are to be adored from afar.
