Wednesday...Downtown

We are downtown today.  Stop on by...

***Mary Mitchell's column in today's Sun-Times starts with:

What I find the most sickening about politics is that some politicians think the American people are idiots.

She goes on to blather about how Hillary Clinton must thing voters are stupid for her comments regarding Rev. Jeremiah Wright, The Obama's mentor and spiritual advisor.  Of course, what is the most sickening is opinion writers and journalists who continue to blindly believe that Obama is any different from other politicians.

***An interesting NYT article about punitive damages stemming from lawsuits in other countries.

***Really, the one cool thing about the Ron Paul experiment was the graphics.

***It has always been interesting that hoards of people whine about the Patriot Act.  In particular, they kvetch about warrant-less wire taps for calls originating here but going to possible terrorists, etc.  However, we've discussed on the show the loss of privacy and infringement on rights of everyday American citizens with the increasing use of 'public safety' cameras on every street corner.

Now, Miami Dade PD is getting ready to use a flying drone to spy on the 'bad guys'.  Of course, right now they say this is only for 'tactical' purposes.  We shall see...

***Kirk will be crushed by this news from his favorite seminal band of the '70s - Fleetwood Mac.

***TAX ALERT:  Did we not say last fall that when the GA and Blago passed the transportation bailout that they would be back for more and more and more.  Andy Shaw reports that there is a 'mini-revolution' brewing to do just that:

The repair roadmap under consideration would set aside eight to 13 billion dollars for infrastructure needs. The potential funding sources include raising drivers' license fees and activating the dormant 10th casino license. But they're also considering beefed-up collections of unpaid sales taxes and increasing the state income tax.
