We've got a show & this guy has a column
UPDATED @ 8:45 1/10
Of course, late yesterday, Emil Jones' caucus could not hold together in order to pass the public transportation bail-out. And, of course, they blaimed it on the Republicans.
Emil doesn't have the respect from his caucus members - they don't fear him any longer - they smell weakness in him and the Governor. The question then is when will stand up on their hind legs and take him down???
I tend to read Neil Steinberg to glean what the elite liberal media-types in Chicago are thinking or at least blathering about. Steinberg has clearly gone off the deep end with today's column. The screed begins with:

"Top Senate Democrats blamed the loss on a lack of Republican support but say they plan to push for another vote tomorrow (Thursday)."
WHAT?!??!? They don't need the GOP caucus - this is a simple majority vote. Emil has a simple majority in the IL Senate. This was the big plan, wasn't it? Hold off until after January 1 and then the Republicans are out of the picture when it comes to simply passing legislation.Emil doesn't have the respect from his caucus members - they don't fear him any longer - they smell weakness in him and the Governor. I tend to read Neil Steinberg to glean what the elite liberal media-types in Chicago are thinking or at least blathering about. Steinberg has clearly gone off the deep end with today's column. The screed begins with:
"Chicago is the economic engine that drives Illinois, if not the entire Midwest, and the sooner the hicks in the hinterlands understand that, the better."
This is what the 'hicks' understand, that according to the US Census Bureau, 73% (5,000,000) of IL workers travelled to work by driving or carpooling while only 9% (500,000) commuted via public transportation. So, Steinberg wants all of the taxpayers of IL to roll over for Chicago's demand for better, subsidized public transportation.
Of course, it would be nice if the Capitol Bill would pay for a shiny new silo, but unfortunately, that's not how it works. But I'm sure a city-slicker like Steinberg knows all about how legislation is crafted, negotiated and implemented.

whatta moron
